Stripchain Secures $10M to Enhance Blockchain Usability

User experience, commonly referred to as UX, remains a significant challenge within the cryptocurrency sector, creating obstacles for adoption among various age groups. Many in the crypto community wish for a simpler way to carry out on-chain transactions without the headache of worrying about the underlying network. Some crypto startups are stepping up to address this need and enhance the overall user experience. One startup championing this idea is Stripchain, an interoperability protocol that has recently secured $10 million in funding to implement chain abstraction on a large scale. The funding round for Stripchain was led by Sora Ventures and also included several prominent angel investors, including Santiago Santos, Frontier Research’s Stephane Gosselin, and Messari’s Ryan Selkis. In addition to these individual backers, the round saw participation from venture capital firms such as Hyperithm, Shima Capital, Hypersphere, Mechanism, and Ascensive Assets.

A representative from Sora Ventures emphasized the importance of improving user experience for mass adoption, especially given the increasing number of Layer 1 (L1) and Layer 2 (L2) solutions. The spokesperson highlighted that new users often struggle with the need to understand different blockchain networks, virtual machines (VMs), and key management systems. Hence, making this process more seamless could help attract a broader audience to crypto.

Stripchain’s unique approach enables developers to create specific commands, known as intents, that facilitate actions like transferring data across various blockchains. This interoperability is powered by a technology called stripVM, which allows different applications and protocols to communicate and coordinate effectively.

What sets Stripchain apart from other interoperability protocols is its focus on the transaction layer, coupled with a proof of authority system. Previous solutions often centered on the protocol layer, such as the Cosmos Inter-Blockchain Communication Protocol, or the contractual layer using bridges. “Despite the significant progress the industry has made in enabling value transfer across blockchains, we have not yet succeeded in connecting monolithic applications across the execution layers of different systems,” explained 0xnovachrono. Currently in its private beta stage, Stripchain plans to launch its testnet within the next few months.
