Snowden’s X Flurry: Bitcoin Devs, Elon, and Puppy Killers Under Attack

Edward Snowden, the famous whistleblower who leaked classified information from the United States National Security Agency, had a busy day on the X social media app on May 2. Snowden, who currently resides in Russia after being granted citizenship, has gained popularity and celebrity status for speaking out on issues of freedom and privacy. During his social media tirade, he expressed his dissatisfaction with various individuals, including Elon Musk.

Snowden took issue with Musk after the billionaire posted a poll about someone who replaces the American flag with another flag. Snowden argued that freedom of expression, including flag-trampling, is protected by the constitution for a reason. He used the example of replacing the US flag with a flag bearing the McDonald’s logo to emphasize his point. Musk has not responded to Snowden’s comments.

In another post, Snowden warned Bitcoin developers about the need for privacy at the protocol level. This warning was prompted by the closure of Wasabi Wallet developer zkSNACKs. Although the specifics of Snowden’s warning are unclear, he has long been associated with and supported cryptocurrencies, especially Bitcoin.

Next, Snowden turned his attention to South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem. Noem sparked controversy after excerpts from her book revealed that she had shot a 14-month-old puppy in the head. Noem defended her actions as lawful and claimed the puppy was aggressive. Snowden compared her actions to excessive force in law enforcement and criticized her policies regarding farm animals.

In his post, Snowden referred to Noem as a “puppy-killer” and sarcastically predicted that the police union would justify her actions by claiming the puppy posed a threat. This comment demonstrates Snowden’s disdain for Noem’s animal handling policies.

Edward Snowden used the X social media app to express his opinions on various topics, including freedom of expression, Bitcoin privacy, and animal policies. His outspoken nature has garnered attention and support from technology-based communities.
