Addy Crezee, founder of BlockShow by , expressed excitement about the upcoming event and emphasized the importance of developers in fueling the growth of Web3. The hackathon offers two competition tracks: the startup track, which focuses on launching innovative products for mass adoption, and the tooling and infra track, which aims to support the Web3 developer community.
The hackathon will kick off on May 7 with introductory sessions and mentoring before participants delve into project development on May 8. May 9 will feature a pitching workshop and the submission of projects. The event will conclude with a pitching competition and awards ceremony to recognize the best entries. Participants will have the opportunity to win prizes and receive funding of up to $50,000 for their projects. Those taking part in the hackathon will receive a dev pass, granting them free access to the BlockShow x BlockDown event.
Alex Pisarevski, the founder of EpicWeb3, emphasized the expertise brought to the partnership by Epic Web3 and BlockShow x BlockDown. He is confident that this collaboration will create an exceptional hackathon experience in Hong Kong. The submission requirements include an open-source code repository URL, a text description of project features and functionality, and a demonstration video. English proficiency and at least one representative attending the hackathon in person are also mandatory.
Erhan Korhaliller, founder and CEO of EAK Digital and BlockDown Festival, highlighted the importance of education and providing developers with the latest Web3 tools and technology. The hackathon at BlockShow x BlockDown aims to foster developer talent and contribute to the sustainability of Web3 as an industry. Co-organized by and EAK Digital, the BlockShow x BlockDown Asia 2024 event is expected to attract numerous media outlets, industry speakers, and over 5,000 attendees. Attendees can also look forward to a gaming zone, gamification experiences, and Startup Connect, an opportunity for investors and startups in the Web3 and cryptocurrency sector to connect.
Education and providing tools are important, but I don’t see how this hackathon will contribute to that.
Education is key, and I’m glad to see Erhan Korhaliller emphasizing it in the Web3 industry. This hackathon will certainly contribute to developer talent and growth.
The gaming zone and gamification experiences sound like distractions rather than valuable additions.
